Coordinators ONLY

Sandi Carstensen, Founder & National Coordinator

Operation Support for Deployed Military (OSFDM) was founded in response to requests from active service personnel deployed overseas to sustain Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq. Our intent is to send a little piece of home to our troops to let them know that they have not been forgotten.

Operation Support Pillowcase began with the response to a request from a loved one for a dark pillowcase. One pillowcase led to another and another. With the support of on-line quilting friends, pillowcases led to Christmas stockings and to quilts, or Cuddle-Ups, for newborn patriots. Our sewing angels, as we have come to know them, work year round to answer the call for these homemade items. . We invite you to read the Introduction to learn more about OSFDM.

Operation Support for Deployed Military depends on people like you to donate their time, talent, money and materials to create these items and to supply the goodies that are put into stockings. If you would like more information about these projects or if you would like to volunteer to help us meet these special requests from our troops, please send an email to quiltnweave@cis.net

You are also invited to Join our Yahoo chat forum.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who are volunteering their time and resources to send a touch of home to our troops overseas.

These projects and this website is dedicated to the memory of Wendy Lewis, wife of CSM Lawrence Lewis (ret). Wendy was the first Family Readiness Group Leader to work with us in providing the "stuffings" for the home-made Christmas Stockings we sent to Iraq in 2004. I had the pleasure of meeting Wendy in person at Ft. Hood, TX upon the return of the 515th 1st Cavalry. Wendy was a wonderful, kind, caring individual who gave 100% of herself in everything she did. She loved her family deeply and especially her little granddaughters. Sadly, shortly after the return of her husband from a tour in Iraq, Wendy died on a flight from Ft. Hood, Tx. To Ft. Leavenworth, Ks.

Upon hearing of her death, our group of supporters made a "Christmas Stocking Quilt" to honor her memory and presented it to her husband.
